A long-running dispute over whether male staff in UK Job Centres should be forced to wear shirts and ties may be coming to end, according to a BBC report.
Around 8,000 men were preparing compensation claims after one employee, Matthew Thompson, won an employment tribunal claim of sex discrimination last year, arguing that it was unfair that women could wear T-shirts while men had to wear shirts and ties.
The Department for Work and Pensions has now said that they will reverse the rule if the compensation claims are dropped. He told the Manchester tribunal that women were allowed to wear T-shirts and even a football shirt without facing disciplinary action.
